Cameron Rolph-Smith

Flying solo since he was 15, Cameron has performed aerobatic, low-level and formation flying in air shows throughout Australia and around the world. He is an experienced pilot, having flown a wide range of aircrafts including the Yak 52, Harvard, Wirraway, Trojan, Nanchang, TBM Avenge, Yak 3U, L-39 Albatross, P-51 Mustang, Stearman and WACO.

Cameron has dedicated an enormous amount of time developing his skills and passion for all things aviation. He established one of Australia’s leading aircraft restoration companies Performance Aero in 2012. This was after recognising the demand for a maintenance and restoration workshop that specialised in warbirds and classic aircraft. Along with his many projects, he is currently restoring a world-leading 1944 Super Marine Spitfire MK14(E).

A current board member of Australia Warbirds Limited, Cameron is a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and Commercial pilot. His true soft spot is for Super Cubs.

James Crockett

James is the Chief Pilot for Fighter Pilot. When not flying Warbirds, you may spot him preparing for a Pacific crossing in the Boeing 777 for Virgin Australia.

James’ passion for aviation started as a young boy and he completed his first solo flight in a glider on his 15th birthday. Gaining his pilots Licence before he could legally drive a car, created some challenges for his parents. James performed at air shows all over the country in his teenage years, before taking on commercial turbo prop’s and jet operations in his early twenties. James was selected for various senior management positions within the regional airline industry, before he was offered a position with Virgin Blue, flying the Boeing 737 as First Officer. In 2006 James was promoted to Captain, on the Boeing 737. In 2010 James took up a position flying the Boeing 777.

Today, James continues to fly with Virgin, whilst also being heavily involved in the Aviation community – from his recent appointment as President of Queensland’s largest airpark, to running and participating in Airshows throughout Australia.

Steve Boyd

Stephen is a Senior Captain with Cathay Pacific Airways, flying the Airbus A330 with more than 17,000 hours in his logbook. His flying career began at 16 when a childhood passion for aviation led him to glider flying with the Queensland Air Training Corps.

He gained his commercial pilot’s license 15 months after finishing high school. In 1994, Steve joined Cathay Pacific Airways and moved to Hong Kong. Initially a Second Officer on the Airbus A340, he was promoted to First Officer on the Boeing 747-400 and in early 2005 he was promoted to Captain on the Airbus A330/340.

In 2009 Steve returned to Australia with his family, continuing to fly with Cathay Pacific while indulging his interest in warbird aircrafts. He purchased a CAC Wirraway and an L39 Albatros. Steve is part of the Fighter Pilot team operating the L-39 Albatros and lives in Brisbane with his wife and daughters.

Brad Bishopp

Brad’s life revolves around the world of aviation, with his earliest memories being around the Archerfield Airport. With a deep passion for aircraft, Brad has always immersed himself in aviation, currently perfecting his piloting skills, flying warbirds such as the T-6 Harvard and P-51D Mustang. He also pilots turbo props and is undertaking flight lessons in helicopters.

Brad is serious about all things aviation, including establishing a fleet of classic WWII aircraft. He also dedicates countless hours to the growth of Fighter Pilot, with a drive to share the dream with aspiring flyers. His dreams include owning a Spitfire and a Corsair.

Aviation is in Brad’s blood, with his Grandfather and Great-Uncle having both served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, with both parents and his younger brother being avid general aviation pilots. Brad’s son has also recently gone solo.

Outside of the world of aviation, Brad leads the team at Bishopp Outdoor Advertising; one of Australia’s leading out of home advertising companies.

Rodney Ginn

Rodney is an aviation enthusiast based on the Sunshine Coast and has been a pilot since the early 1990’s. With several thousand hours of experience, he is a keen flyer of Fighter Pilot’s Yak-52 and has an undeniable love affair for the WACO Biplane affectionately known as Marilyn.

Rodney also pilots emergency service missions, including fire spotting and fauna & flora research. He is passionate about sharing the flying experience through Fighter Pilot.

Like all the team at Fighter Pilot, Rodney’s experience began as a small boy, growing up around Caloundra Airport where his father Brian maintained and kept many small planes in a state of preparedness for many owners. This is where Rodney first fell in love with Aviation. Over his 22 years of flying, Caloundra still remains Rodney’s main base.

Nick Maddocks

Nick is an up-and-coming warbird pilot with a strong passion for everything aviation.
He has extensive skills in gliding, having represented Australia in junior world competition and winning the 2013 Australian two-seat gliding nationals.

Nick experienced his first glider ride at aged four, and went solo as soon as he could on his 15th birthday. Nick’s experience and passion extends to maintenance and engineering. Beginning aircraft maintenance in 2011, Nick works as Cameron’s right-hand man at Performance Aero and works on all sorts of aircraft from jets to warbirds.

Both his grandparents flew powered planes and gliders, and both his parents are avid gliders. Nick follows closely in the footsteps of his Father who is proudly a veteran F-111 pilot and was seen by many performing the "dump and burn" at Brisbane's Riverfire Festival. Nick’s father continues to fly for QANTAS and be an active mentor to Nick.

DON'T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT!

“Dream come true! Went out in the Mustang with super-pilot Cam and had the time of my life! Heaps of fantastic aeros and awesome views of Brisbane and Moreton Bay. It was an awesome experience being inverted in a barrel roll and a loop. This is truly a bucket list experience that I have just put a massive tick beside! Thanks so much to Brad, Cam and Bec at Fighter Pilot adventure flights!”

“What an awesome experience in the back seat of Steadfast. Super helpful and friendly team and the flying experience was entirely out of this world. How many people can say they have flown in a formation with and tail chased a Mustang while flying in a World Record holding Yakovlev. Simply beyond words! Real bucket list stuff!”

- Daniel Drake

“Really great flight in the Yak 52 – all of the staff were really friendly and helpful. I recommend this to anybody looking for some great fun.”

- Jack Van Veldhuizen

“What a blast – another adventure off my bucket list. My father was a WWII Spitfire fighter pilot and was awarded a DFC & Legion of Honour for his role in D Day. He has now passed and I have always wanted to experience a flight in a WWII fighter. My first wish was a Spitfire and if not available a P-51 Mustang. Finding a two-seater fighter is not easy but Fighter Pilot solved the problem. Thanks to Cameron and his P-51D I was able to experience the thrills, power and adrenalin of a flight in a Mustang. This was the ultimate flight and a dream come true. Thanks to Rebecca, Cameron & Fighter Pilot team for the experience. The DVD was a bonus to maintain the memory.”

- John Cowpe

“The Fighter Pilot experience really is unreal! I never thought I’d get the chance to barrel roll through the sky in a L-39 and feel those G’s. I would recommend this to anyone, especially if you have a Top-Gun fan in your life! It’s the perfect gift that will change their life. Thank you so much Fighter Pilot – I will certainly be back for more!”
